Yates Mountain also more commonly known as Barrier Lake Lookout. Since I am a scrambler, I had to use name of mountain. Though to be honest I didn't know this peak actually has a name until now.

After a rough week in the mountains, it seemed even this small peak got bit of snow. Despite this trail is popular and many people visit the lookout, I have to say with as much snow like this week, some of steep sections (page 8) cannot be considered as "hiking" in my opinion otherwise I am pretty sure Yates is safe all year around.

Frozen Barrier Lake. As warm winter it has been, I am quite surprised this lake is still completely frozen. There are thick ices along Bow River in Calgary, it's not that surprising I guess.

Fresh snow made it easier to walk rather than walking on ice underneath.

McConnell Ridge left, and Yates on the right. If I knew that little thing has name (McConnell), I would have went there… Lack of research…

Weather looked better on webcam earlier at home, but got little bit of thin clouds. However better than last several weeks. Seems mountains getting bad weather every weekend lately.

One of the steep section I mentioned. I guess because this trail is so popular snow gets pounded so quickly which makes footing very slippery.
