Our original plan was Mount Nomad, however avoiding potential avalanche we ended up on shoulder of an unnamed peak at GR266129. I couldn’t come up with better name so me being lazy nicknamer, I nicknamed “Great View Ridge”. I can’t wait to name my own kids!!

We parked at North Interlakes Day Use parking log. Instead of following Upper K. Lake Circuit or Three Isle Lake trail, we took advantage of frozen lake to enjoy open space view for a while. About 2 km from the parking, we get off the lake and merged to Three Isle Lake trail. We followed the trail for another 2 km until Invincible Creek where there was a sign saying no more biking beyond this point. Maybe there is a trail but we didn’t see any so we tried to follow the creek as much as we could. But It wasn’t easy and certainly didn’t want to step on weak snow and fall into creek (page 6). Also it became canyon where both sides looked pretty cliffy from distance, we decided to go up a slope left (west) of creek hoping we don’t have to gain too much elevation. Well we pretty much had no choice but keep going up and at this point I thought this could become a failed attempt… Once standing on ridge top, only way to get to Nomad was to lose quite a bit of elevation and we elected to go for a high point of this ridge and call it a day. I guess in order to get to Nomad, really have to stick with the creek.

For winter ascent, don’t go to right (east) of the creek because there are many avalanche paths and more exposed (avalanche wise). Also there is one spot from our route that you need to be careful. Between treeline until ridge top (page 8), it’s pretty good slope for avalanche. Try this only when snow condition allows.

Peaks around this area is pretty awesome looking, but require long and fast or backpacking to get them. Planning planning.

Mount Lyautey dominates the south view. If this is Lake Louise, I am pretty sure there would be 7 named peaks instead of 1.
