Meiji Jingu - Tokyo | 2003-09-27

Meiji Jingu is a Shinto shrine. It is a very famous shrine. I had heard of the name so many times, thousands of people goes here on New Year's day, but I had never knew where it was. Well it was just 2 minutes away from Harajuku station, where I used to pass by everyday when I was a high school kid. How dumb.

There were so many Torii, the big gate you see in the middle of the picture. You see Torii at any Shinto shrine, I think... You are learning Japanese culture from ME! Isn't that amaze you? Well I'm amazed by myself.

Before you enter the core place of shrine, you wash your hands with the holy water. If you are a cute girl, you are more than welcome to wash entire body.

This is the place people come for. Too bad, the inside is too dark to see in the picture, and I cannot tell what were there because I simply don't remeber. I thinkt there was a statue of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy.

There is the right way to pray, but I don't remeber. I think it was like, clap twice, bow, give money, wish, clap twice again, then bow.
